The Anole
Isaac and Isabella thought they needed friends to keep them company.

These lizards are SO cool! The Lizards as Isabella and Isaac call them are here again. Well they really aren't the same ones that came last fall home on the weekends with me, but that is beside the point. To them the only thing that matters is that they are BACK!
They really aren't lizards, but green anoles. In science my students are studying vertebrates. In this unit they also learn about adaptations, camouflage, predator, prey, decomposing, and food chains. These little anoles cover all these concepts as a hands on experience for the third graders. We have earthworms in the terrarium along with a cricket or two every three days to feed these little dudes.
The question is where is the safest place to keep them. Of course Isaac and Isabella BOTH think their rooms are the PERFECT place! I really don't think this is an option. I don't want anoles running around my house. Nor do I want to explain to 21 third graders what happened to their classroom anole over the weekend.
