There she goes!
Trying to get back to the top of the hill.
Helping out little sis get back to the top.
Thursday was a very warm day.  It reached 70 degrees, however it was very windy! Isaac and Isabella were able to get outside and try out their new scooters.  They also had fun riding their bikes down the hill.

Creating with Lincoln Logs, Again

Isaac has not put the Lincoln Logs down since he received them for Christmas. Everyday he is creating some new shed or home. After church today Isaac and Isabella created a farm, of course. Isabella had to make a pen for her animals.

Building

On Sunday morning before church Isaac and Isabella got out Isaac's tools and went to work in the basement building. According to Isaac they were building a bridge. Yes, they are in their p.j.'s!
Look at that!
Look at the swing!

Funny Face

Isabella especially loves these funny glasses that Isaac got at his preschool Halloween Party. She is continually wearing them around the house acting silly!

Fall Harvest

Grandma and Grandpa Wienck brought down a dozen of pumpkins from Uncle Melvin's surplus. The pumpkins were a hit. However, it was the the sampling of Grandpa's corn and soybeans, that were in some coffee cans in the van, that seemed to be the BIGGEST hit! Isabella hooked onto the soybeans right away and decided they would be food to her flock of ducks. Isaac of course had his own ideas of harvesting. He had corn in his combine, wagon, and loader. Of course there was some in the carpet, wood floor, and tile floor, too.
I do think I'll be finding little bits of soybeans and corn forever in my house! Thanks, Mom and Dad!

The Lizards Are Back!

The Anole

Isaac and Isabella thought they needed friends to keep them company.

Having fun watching them move!

I hope I am going to be safe here!

These lizards are SO cool!

The Lizards as Isabella and Isaac call them are here again. Well they really aren't the same ones that came last fall home on the weekends with me, but that is beside the point. To them the only thing that matters is that they are BACK!

They really aren't lizards, but green anoles. In science my students are studying vertebrates. In this unit they also learn about adaptations, camouflage, predator, prey, decomposing, and food chains. These little anoles cover all these concepts as a hands on experience for the third graders. We have earthworms in the terrarium along with a cricket or two every three days to feed these little dudes.
The question is where is the safest place to keep them. Of course Isaac and Isabella BOTH think their rooms are the PERFECT place! I really don't think this is an option. I don't want anoles running around my house. Nor do I want to explain to 21 third graders what happened to their classroom anole over the weekend.

Dealerships

The Farm

The Car Lot or "Little People" Vehicle Lot

Case IH Lot

John Deere Lot
Isaac and Isabella have been playing "Dealership" lately at home. This is when they get out all the Case IH equipment, John Deere equipment, and the Little People Vehicles. They line them up in their respective lots on the wood floor in the hallway. Of course the farm has to be close by, too!

What Not To Wear

Isabella LOVES to play with her stuffed animals! She likes to pretend she is an animal. It usually is a duck, however lately it could be a zebra, dolphin, or elephant, too. Last year's Halloween costume does come in very handy when she really needs to get into character.
Evidently Isabella has not been picking up on the any of the fashion advice on What Not To Wear. When she is outside playing she really prefers these Lightning McQueen water shoes that were passed down from her cousin Jeremy. Of course she did add a girlish touch with her aqua baby chick socks! Oh, did I mention she actually thinks she is Lightning most of the time when she is pedaling her trike?

Working in the Yard

Mini Matt just loves to help his dad. It really doesn't matter what it is. He just wants to help, too.

Self Portraits

Isaac and Isabella played school this evening after dinner. They first practiced cutting on a line. Then, they drew self portraits. Isaac included his daddy in his picture. Isaac tried to write his name. If you look above his picture you'll notice an "I", "a", and a "c". Isabella put boots on her feet. She also practiced writing the letter "t".

Tilling the Yard

Matt is going to reseed our back yard around the play set and garden. Our only hope is that it turns out like our front yard did a couple of years ago. Eventually we are going to reseed the rest of the yard to Salzer Road. However, when you live on a couple of acres it takes time to replant and establish grass. Matt rented a little tractor and tiller from Kan-Equip. Isaac was in heaven of course. He did let Isabella get up for a little bit, too.

Decorating Cupcakes

The little ones enjoyed decorating cupcakes on Saturday. Isaac had good self control and did not lick the knife or his fingers until he was done decorating. Isabella on the other hand made up for Isaac's self control. She was continually licking the knife and her fingers.
