Christmas 2009

With all the snow it was not the Christmas we had planned, but it was fun all the same! We were able to make it to Christmas Eve Mass at 6:00 safely. However, not very many people ventured out for mass. The highway and our road was fine due to the fact everything was just blowing all by. The roads in town were already a mess and worse after mass of course.

Isaac and Isabella were disappointed not being able to go to the farm to celebrate Christmas, but they enjoyed playing with their new toys all day long! Isaac especially loved the new building blocks, and Isabella hasn't put down the little stuffed mouse that Aunt Donna and Uncle Pete sent her. Isaac even mentioned that he was happy although Santa didn't bring him everything on his list. He already has the Gleaner combine, that he didn't get this year, on the list for next year!

Dear Santa

I am going to see Santa!

The big guy knows I've been nice.

I can't believe it's you Santa!

Isabella's first time ever sitting on Santa's lap.

Merry Christmas!

We took the little ones to go see Santa after their dentist appointments. They were besides themselves with anticipation and excitement of being able to talk with him. When they final got to visit with him, they couldn't wait to take turns to tell him what they wanted. They both just started naming off the things they can't live without. He just listening as he is trained to do.

Isaac and Isabella had their first visit to the dentist on yesterday. They both did amazingly well! Isaac had his mouth wide open as soon as he got into the chair. We actually had to tell him it was okay to close it. Isabella loved the fact that they let you watch cartoons while you had your teeth cleaned. They both loved the fact that they got to pick out new toothbrushes and a prize. Isabella picked out this stretchy lizard that sticks to walls and glass. Isaac picked out a sand timer. He did use it to time himself when brushing his teeth, however he also timed bed time prayers. I was wondering why he was praying so fast. I think we will need chat about this.

Wrapping Christmas Presents

I tried to wrap some Christmas presents this morning. I thought Isaac and Isabella would maybe like to help out. They had their own vision of what wrapping presents was all about. Isaac thought that the roll of wrapping paper would make a wonderful road for his tractors and other small vehicles. Isabella also joined in on the fun. I am very sorry if your gift has tire tracks on it this year. I thought about saying no, but they were having a LOT of fun and being very creative with their imaginary play. It is really hard to squash that fun. They were not ripping the paper, so I let them have their fun for awhile. They also discovered that the extra wrapping paper makes a great kite if you run like the wind and let it follow behind you!

Isaac did a great job of depositing all the gifts under the tree for me, and they both loved helping put on the gift tags. Sorry if they are not placed just perfect this year. My little elves have their own protocol to follow!

Oops! We unrolled it a little too far!

Snowy Day Fun

Tuesday was a very snowy day here! It was a snow day for schools! We ended up with about 9 inches of snow. However, the most important part of this is that Isaac and Isabella had the opportunity to go out and play in the snow! They made snow angels, through snowballs, went sledding, and just played in the snow.

Decorating Sugar Cookies

The past two days have been snow days. Today it was even too cold to go out and play in the snow to Isaac's disappointment. We made cut out sugar cookies in the morning and decorated them after Isaac and Isabella woke up from afternoon naps.

I just need to turn this adjust the tilt steering first.

Enjoying his birthday lunch.
Isaac turned four on Saturday. He requested to go eat at the Kream Cup here in Wamego. It reminds you a lot of Vista even down to the orange and brown booths. After eating we headed to Kan-Equip the Case IH dealership in town. Isaac enjoyed trying out some new machinery. Saturday evening we took the little ones to see the annual Christmas Parade and park lighting ceremony. The best part Isaac thought was that Santa was driving a John Deere tractor in the parade. Kan-Equip even had a combine decked out in Christmas lights, too.

Building

On Sunday morning before church Isaac and Isabella got out Isaac's tools and went to work in the basement building. According to Isaac they were building a bridge. Yes, they are in their p.j.'s!
Look at that!
Look at the swing!

Funny Face

Isabella especially loves these funny glasses that Isaac got at his preschool Halloween Party. She is continually wearing them around the house acting silly!

First Snow Fall

The excitement of Isabella and Isaac this morning was unbelievable at the first sight of the first snow of the season. They both had to run around and make tracks before we got in the car to leave this morning.

I love the snow!
See all of our tracks we are making?

Harvest Time

Isaac and Isabella went to the farm last week to help finish up soybean harvest. Isabella took her first tractor and combine ride. She climbed up the ladder to the combine like a pro and only looked back to wave. Isaac of course LOVED the farm as usual and couldn't get enough time there.

Trick or Treating

Isaac and Isabella enjoyed going Trick or Treating Saturday night. They were very excited to go Trick or Treating in the dark with their flashlights and glow sticks! It was MUCH warmer than Friday night going downtown. As you can see we didn't have to wear the gloves and winter jackets.

Happy Halloween

Isaac and Isabella picked very suitable costumes this year for Halloween. Isaac was a farmer. Which makes sense since this is ALL he talks about and plays with these days. Isabella picked to be a giraffe. (Thankfully once we went to the fabric store she forgot all about being a dinosaur!) This is also very fitting since her bed LOOKS like a zoo. She is really into the animals on the Savannah. (Remember her birthday a couple of weeks ago with the giraffe and zebra cake.) I am particularly proud of Isabella's costume since I made it for her. It was fun putting all the details into the dress and headband.

We took them Trick or Treating downtown Wamego Friday night. Even though it was much colder than last year they really did enjoy it a lot more this year. Hopefully tomorrow night we will also go out and go to a few houses, too. They really just want to ring the doorbell and say Trick or Treat!

Soccer Game

I took Isaac and Isabella to Topeka on Saturday. Cousins Sarah and Rebekka were playing in the Governor's Cup Soccer Tournament. They watched a little of the game. They mostly enjoyed spending time with their Sarah, Rebekka, and Aunt Karla. They especially liked half time. This was when they could go out on the field and run around! Of course we took a short detour to the mall to go to Old Navy before lunch. Isaac and Isabella got to do their favorite thing at the mall, ride the escalators!

Pumpkin Patch

We visited the Little Munchkin Pumpkin Patch on Sunday afternoon. The kids really loved the hay bale jump again. They also loved the hay bale maze and train ride. We took Flat Zach Flax with us to the pumpkin patch, too. He is the flat boy in the green shirt in some of the pictures.
