Wheat Harvest

I know wheat harvest occurred back at the end of June, however I never did get a video made.

Isabella now gets her fair share of time in the combine.  The funny thing is that she and Isaac both fell asleep while riding in the combine in the afternoon at wheat harvest.  Isabella said she kept waking up when her head hit the side window.  Grandpa pulled over when they were close to road so she could go back to the farm.  Uncle John and Isaac just rested on a blanket under the grain cart after Isaac kept falling asleep in the combine.

Riley County Pedal Tractor Pull

Isaac participated in the Riley County Pedal Tractor Pull on Thursday, July 22nd.  He thought he didn't do so great because he never made it to the end of the arena.  However, he made it a great deal farther than any other four year old.  Which was enough to give him first place and the opportunity to participate in the Kansas State Fair Pedal Tractor Pull in September!

Issac with his first place tractor trophy.  (The 4 represents the age group.)

Isaac with the second and third place winners, who happened to be twin girls.

Watching others compete.

As a fair board member Uncle John helped with the pedal tractor pull.

The little monkeys took in a couple of rides at the carnival.

Waiting patiently for the airplane ride.

Crown Center Plaza - Kansas City

On Friday afternoon after Isaac's apointment at Children's Mercy we all went down to Crown Center Plaza.  Our mission was to take the kids to Kaleidoscope.  It is a fun educational place where kids can create all types of art projects.  It is funded through Hallmark.  Kids of all ages have fun creating.

Children's Mercy Checkup

Isaac had his one year post check up last week from having his left kidney removed last year. It was an enjoyable appointment since there were no needles involved or fasting before hand. He did need a full bladder for his ultra sound, but that was a breeze to do!

The good news is we didn't have to travel downtown Kansas City for Isaac's appointment.  We were able to see the urologist at Children's Mercy South in Overland Park.  We always seem to take a wrong term going downtown Kansas City.

They have great toys in the waiting room.
Isaac watching the vehicles go by on the highway.
Dr. Murphy's office is on the fourth floor, so it made for great viewing.
View out the window.
Isaac passing the time.

The good news is that everything looked great!  His right kidney is functioning well on it own.  He won't need to see Dr. Murphy for another three years!

Harvesting Sweet Corn

It was harvest time yesterday at the Wilber's. It was a cloudy morning and somewhat comfortable outside! Which is a switch to waking up with 80 degree temperatures.

Isaac was ready to harvest the sweet corn on Monday morning.

Matt picked the corn and Isaac's job was to put the ears into the wheel barrel.

Working as a team.

Matt and Isaac had a great production line going.

Isabella told us she was not into harvesting.
She played the recorder out  in yard.  This is a much better option than playing in the house.

You should hear the music when they BOTH decide to play!

Instead she ran around the yard with the corn stalks, like she was in a parade.

She did love the little worms we found in the corn. She had a entire worm collection.
There were mommy, daddy, brother, and sister worms.
Even though it looks like she is about to step on the worms, she didn't. They were a family.

Isabella taking a bite!

Isaac enjoyed the corn of the cob. He LOVED it!

Sunday at the Museum

A week ago we went up to Belleville for a Sunday afternoon. Grandma and Grandpa Wilber were volunteering at the museum that afternoon. Everyone came and enjoyed lunch at the museum and then went exploring. Isaac of course REALLY loved the tool room and the ag building. Isabella thought the old doll buggies and high chairs were very cute. She also was facinated at the turtle shell. She kept on telling everyone that the turtle lost his home. They both enjoyed going out to tour the old caboose, school house, log cabin, and church with Aunt Debbie and Aunt Chris.

Fourth of July

Over the Fourth of July the Wienck family got together for their traditional celebration. We started the morning off on a train ride on the Central Branch Railroad. It started in Blue Rapids and took us East past Waterville. Isaac on the way back got to help flag the Highway 77 traffic. In the afternoon we went to Randolph for the parade and fireworks. Isaac, Jeremy, Allison, and Zach all were in the pedal tractor pull. They brought home three first place ribbons and and one third place ribbon. The evening was a little damp due to light rain that kept falling. However, it cleared off in time for the fireworks. Isaac and Isabella BOTH fell asleep during the fireworks and missed the big finale! On Sunday it was a BBQ at our house. Unfortunately, it was an inside BBQ due to ALL the rain. Matt did get a little wet grilling, but he survived.

Great Wolf Lodge

A couple of weeks ago we took a vacation to St. Louis. On the way back we went to Great Wolf Lodge in Kansas City. The little ones loved everything about Great Wolf Lodge from the bunk beds in the room to the water park!

Isabella finally started going down the water slide about 1 hour before we were to leave a course. That is so Isabella!

Isaac loved going down the slides and screaming as he went!

Randolph Pedal Tractor Pull

Isaac's first place blue ribbon and with the tractor that he won.

Isaac competed in the Pedal Tractor Pull at Randolph on Saturday. He won first place for his age division. The smile on his face says it all!
