Fun in the Sun

Last week Isaac and Isabella took advantage of the warm weather.  They first started out playing on the water slide.  Then, they progressed to the swimming pool.  By the time I had gotten home the contents of the swimming pool was in the sandbox.  They were building dams and ponds.  Of course this looked like TOO much fun for the neighbor kids to pass up.  They also joined Isaac and Isabella playing.
Notice how Isabella is the only one actually in the wet sand?  She has been paying for it ever since.  Her ecema reared its ugly head major big time after this.  We are still trying to get it under control.

Isaac's First Day of Preschool

Isaac had his first day of preschool today!  He was SO excited!  He had been counting down the days!!

Isaac's First Soccer Game

Isaac had his first soccer game today.  He was NOT very excited going into the game.  He had told us at breakfast that soccer was no fun because you had to listen to the coach and have lots of patience.  Then he preceded to tell us that he wished we NEVER had signed him up for soccer.

We took the unenthused boy to the game.  Our instructions to him was to go get involved in the game keep up with the team and try to have fun!

(Their game shirts were not ready for their first game.  Red was the closest we had in the closet to maroon.)
Isaac LOVED his soccer game.  He told us it was a LOT more FUN than practice.  Isaac didn't really kick the ball too much, but he always stayed with the group and tried to get the ball!  Overall pretty good for a young boy's first soccer game considering his parents are not sports enthusiast.

First Day of Preschool for Isabella

 Excited to go to school!
Isabella and her teacher Miss Carrie
 Let's go!
Isabella loved the sensory table with oatmeal in it at school.

Isaac is the one that cried this morning.  He wasn't going to have Isabella to play with.  Isaac starts school on Monday.

Staining the Deck

The deck needed to be stained again, and since I am almost ready to go back to school the time is now to get it done.  Matt was in charge of power washing it first.  I have been staining the floor while Matt does the outside spindles.  The little ones have been staining a birdhouse that the Kay's husband made. (Kay cuts out hair.)  Which is just enough staining for them!

We still also need to stain the play set.  That is the next project after the deck.

Jumping off the Low Dive

Last week the little ones and some teacher friends made a road trip down to Valley Center to visit Marsha, who I use to teach third grade with at West.   Marsha has a pool in her back yard!
Isabella had fun just playing with pool toys up by the steps.
Isaac loved just floating and jumping in.
Isaac, who doesn't want to put his head underwater decided that it would be great to jump off the low dive.  He jumped off about five times.  Getting braver each time.  This was the first time he jumped off with some assistance.

Painting the Front Porch

Last week I spent several morning scraping the paint off my front porch.  Isaac and Isabella helped just enough to find out that it was not a very fun job.  Instead they started asking when can they help paint.  I told them they couldn't help prime since it was oil based paint.  However, today we put the latex second coat on and they were ready to help out!  I figured that an old hand me down KU shirt was the perfect shirt for Isaac to get a little paint on!
My little helpers helping!
The rule was to use a LITTLE paint on your brush.
Isabella was the first one to stop painting.
She decided that there was not another brush she wanted to try out.
Once Isaac went to play in the sandbox with Bella I started painting a lot faster!
However, they both did fairly well, with no major paint spills on them, each other, me, the house, or the concrete.
