Summer Projects

Trying to get the stain off.

The Stain is almost off, except around the door handle.

Partial Done
One of my summer projects was to refinish my front door.  This seemed to literally take ALL summer.  I did great getting the stain off, but then July hit.  With all the 100 degree days I was not going to chance staining it in those conditions, plus who wants to have their door off when it is 100 degrees outside.  Finally the last weekend before school it cooled down enough for me to get the job done.  I still need to repaint the white trim around the door, but that it why they call it "Labor" Day.
In the background you can see my beautiful looking door.
(It doesn't look like I am too excited for the first day of school.)

First Soccer Practice of the Season

Isabella was VERY excited to be able to have her VERY first soccer practice!  She and Isaac are on the same team (Which makes it only one practice a week to attend. See, there are benefits of them being so close in age!)  They have Miss Jenny for their coach, which who was Isaac's coach last fall, too!

First Day Of School

First Day of School 2011
This past Monday my little boy (Who is not so little anymore.) had his first day of kindergarten.  Isaac of course was very excited, but a little nervous because he didn't know what to expect.  However, he has had a great week and LOVES kindergarten.  Isabella asked him if he loved it better than preschool.  Isaac said yes very quickly, then back tracked.  He made it known that he still LOVES Miss Kathy, his preschool teacher, even though he loves going to kindergarten.

First Day of Kindergarten

Waiting for school to begin!

Isabella was also back to preschool this past Monday, too.  For her it was like the summer never happened.  She still has the same teacher and most of the same classmates.  She is no longer at West with me, since the new remodel of Central Elementary.  She and Isaac are both at Central for the next three years together.
First day of Pre-K.

Pedal Pulling Again

Isaac and I ventured into the heat yesterday for the Pedal Tractor Pull at the Pott. County Fair in Onaga.  Isabella and Matt stayed at home since the little miss is suffering from a fever, sore throat, and sinus congestion.  The pull was out in the direct sun with no trees to help you escape from the 100 degree heat and humidity.  Isaac did a wonderful job and placed third in the five year old division.  He had to  pull two times since the first time there were six boys that had full pulls.  They then added 75 pounds to the weight wagon for the pull off.  The bad news it was not a state sanctioned pull, so only Isabella will be competing at the Kansas State Fair in September.

Chicago Vacation

The last full week of July we got away to the windy city for vacation!  Everyone had a wonderful time.  We especially liked the fact that it was at least 20 degrees cooler or more each day.  There was even rain several nights.  (Something we have not had much of at home this summer.)  However, like all good things they come to and end way too fast.
