Trick or Treating

Isaac and Isabella enjoyed going Trick or Treating Saturday night. They were very excited to go Trick or Treating in the dark with their flashlights and glow sticks! It was MUCH warmer than Friday night going downtown. As you can see we didn't have to wear the gloves and winter jackets.

Happy Halloween

Isaac and Isabella picked very suitable costumes this year for Halloween. Isaac was a farmer. Which makes sense since this is ALL he talks about and plays with these days. Isabella picked to be a giraffe. (Thankfully once we went to the fabric store she forgot all about being a dinosaur!) This is also very fitting since her bed LOOKS like a zoo. She is really into the animals on the Savannah. (Remember her birthday a couple of weeks ago with the giraffe and zebra cake.) I am particularly proud of Isabella's costume since I made it for her. It was fun putting all the details into the dress and headband.

We took them Trick or Treating downtown Wamego Friday night. Even though it was much colder than last year they really did enjoy it a lot more this year. Hopefully tomorrow night we will also go out and go to a few houses, too. They really just want to ring the doorbell and say Trick or Treat!

Soccer Game

I took Isaac and Isabella to Topeka on Saturday. Cousins Sarah and Rebekka were playing in the Governor's Cup Soccer Tournament. They watched a little of the game. They mostly enjoyed spending time with their Sarah, Rebekka, and Aunt Karla. They especially liked half time. This was when they could go out on the field and run around! Of course we took a short detour to the mall to go to Old Navy before lunch. Isaac and Isabella got to do their favorite thing at the mall, ride the escalators!

Pumpkin Patch

We visited the Little Munchkin Pumpkin Patch on Sunday afternoon. The kids really loved the hay bale jump again. They also loved the hay bale maze and train ride. We took Flat Zach Flax with us to the pumpkin patch, too. He is the flat boy in the green shirt in some of the pictures.

The Cake

To most people this is called a "Jungle" cake. However, zebras, giraffes, and elephants live on the "Savannah." Therefore, Isabella wanted a "Savannah" cake. I googled and found some really cute cakes made of fondant icing. I decided to try my hand at it. Note to all who try to do this wear GLOVES when mixing black fondant up with your hands. I hope mine turn back to normal color before church on Sunday. The purplish tint is not because I am a die hard K-State fan. I guess it won't matter as long as Isabella really loves her cake. However, I think I am making another 9x13 cake. I am not for sure how well fondant will taste. I think it might be a bit chewy. However, it looks pretty cute for my first try, if I do say so myself.

Isabella Turned 3 Today!

We are officially out of the terrible twos at our house. Our little cutie turned three today. She woke up early to open her presents. She got her wish and got a bouncy ball popper and a whale.

Already she is my kind of girl. She wanted to go to the mall. So we went to Carlos O'Kelly's.

Fall Harvest

Grandma and Grandpa Wienck brought down a dozen of pumpkins from Uncle Melvin's surplus. The pumpkins were a hit. However, it was the the sampling of Grandpa's corn and soybeans, that were in some coffee cans in the van, that seemed to be the BIGGEST hit! Isabella hooked onto the soybeans right away and decided they would be food to her flock of ducks. Isaac of course had his own ideas of harvesting. He had corn in his combine, wagon, and loader. Of course there was some in the carpet, wood floor, and tile floor, too.
I do think I'll be finding little bits of soybeans and corn forever in my house! Thanks, Mom and Dad!

Had a pretty good harvest!

They really do like soybeans!

The Lizards Are Back!

The Anole

Isaac and Isabella thought they needed friends to keep them company.

Having fun watching them move!

I hope I am going to be safe here!

These lizards are SO cool!

The Lizards as Isabella and Isaac call them are here again. Well they really aren't the same ones that came last fall home on the weekends with me, but that is beside the point. To them the only thing that matters is that they are BACK!

They really aren't lizards, but green anoles. In science my students are studying vertebrates. In this unit they also learn about adaptations, camouflage, predator, prey, decomposing, and food chains. These little anoles cover all these concepts as a hands on experience for the third graders. We have earthworms in the terrarium along with a cricket or two every three days to feed these little dudes.
The question is where is the safest place to keep them. Of course Isaac and Isabella BOTH think their rooms are the PERFECT place! I really don't think this is an option. I don't want anoles running around my house. Nor do I want to explain to 21 third graders what happened to their classroom anole over the weekend.

Dealerships

The Farm

The Car Lot or "Little People" Vehicle Lot

Case IH Lot

John Deere Lot
Isaac and Isabella have been playing "Dealership" lately at home. This is when they get out all the Case IH equipment, John Deere equipment, and the Little People Vehicles. They line them up in their respective lots on the wood floor in the hallway. Of course the farm has to be close by, too!
