Marshall County Fair

We took the munchkins to the Marshall County Fair and Parade last night.  The highlight was of course the pedal tractor pull.  Isaac really wanted to do great so he could go to state again.  The boy was so nervous, but he pulled it off. He placed 2nd in the 6 year old division and gets to go to the state fair!  Isabella did awesome, too!  She placed 5th in her age group of about 30 five year olds.
Just chillin!

Don't I look like Isaac in his shades and hat?

Off to a great start!

Look at that concentration!

And he is off!

Randolph's 4th of July Celebration

Randolph always has their Fourth of July celebration the Saturday before the 4th.  This had to be the HOTTEST Fourth of July celebration that I can remember! It was over 100 and there was just no breeze. However, this did not seem to bother the kids at all.  They enjoyed the parade with their cousins.  Then it was time for the pedal tractor pull.  This was what Isaac had been waiting for. He was a little disappointed that he didn't get a ribbon, but he did a great job!  After the pull we decided to get out of the heat and go eat at Nelson's Landing in Leonardville.  This was a great idea!  However, while there rain clouds moved in and fireworks at Randolph were cancelled for the night.  There was a break in the lightning and the kids were able to use their carnival tickets and ride a few rides.

Waiting for the pedal tractor pull.

Isabella's turn to pull.

Isabella had a full pull and received first place.  There were only two girls in her age division this year.
I think the heat kept many away!

Isaac getting ready to pull.  He had a full pull the first time, but so didn't 4 other boys his age.  In the pull off he ended up in fourth place.  Of course this was a little disappointing to him.

Having fun on some rides!

Isaac enjoying the rides despite the rain.

Isabella didn't care either that she was getting wet.

Last T-Ball Game of the Season

Isaac and Isabella had their last t-ball game on June 30th.  They both enjoyed the season, especially when they got to bat last and run all the bases!  They both decided that  T-ball was just too much standing around and waiting.

Isaac Lost His First Tooth

Isaac lost his first tooth today! He was really excited about it being loose, but not so happy after I pulled it out as you can see.

Not so happy boy after mom pulled it. :(

Fun at the Creek Again

On Tuesday we went up to my folks.  Matt had to crop scout, so we all rode along.  It was another 100 degree day.  I had thrown in the kid's old swimsuits, so they could enjoy the creek below the house.  I do believe I spent many many many hours in  and around this same creek as a child.  Wanda and I would take our dolls in their bathtubs and float them down the creek for hours on end!

Isabella only wanted to try to catch the little minnows.

Still trying!

State 4A Soccer

At the end of May cousins Bekka and Abby played in the state soccer championship for 4A. They did not get into the championship game, but not from lack of effort. They went into multiple overtimes and penalty kicks, but in the end did not come out on top. However, they did end of placing third in the state. We went down to Wichita and watched the game. This game was a blowout! Abbie as goalie touched the ball maybe twice.

Deanna Rose Farmstead

Back at the beginning of June we went to Kansas City for Bekka's High School Graduation Party.  (I know little Bekka already a high school graduate.  Where did the time go?)  After church Sunday morning we went to one of the kids favorite places . . . Deanna Rose Farmstead.  This is a great little place ran by the City of Overland Park, and it is just a few minutes from Wanda's and Karla's house.  It is free during the week, but just a few dollars on the weekends.  The kids love to feed the goats, go fishing, ride the pedal tractors, and see farm animals.
